Worship:
Proximity UMC's traditional service meets at 9:45 a.m. in the sanctuary every Sunday, except on the last Sunday of each month, when we hold a contemporary service in the fellowship hall.

BETSY G. CAUDILL
Pastor
The Rev. Betsy G. Caudill is a retired elder from the Virginia United Methodist Conference. She has served as an associate pastor and pastor in various churches, and for six years as the Program Coordinator for the Arlington District of the UMC. While serving in these positions, she enjoyed seven years as a member of the Spiritual Formation Division of the Virginia Conference Board of Discipleship, including five years as its chair/co-chair. She has a passion for spiritual formation and has facilitated numerous directed, spiritual retreats, as well as workshops on Praying the Scriptures and Centering Prayer. She is an associate, or oblate, of Green Bough House of Prayer in Scott, GA, a contemplative, ecumenical community with deep United Methodist roots.
After retiring from full-time ministry, Betsy eventually moved back to Winston-Salem, where she was born, to be closer to family. She feels privileged to have been serving part-time in the Western NC Conference in her retirement, including in her present appointment as pastor of Proximity UMC.
Following a mid-life call to ministry, Betsy earned a Master of Divinity degree and a certificate in Women in Theology and Ministry from Candler School of Theology, Emory University. Earlier in life she earned a B.A. in German from the University of North Carolina at Asheville and an M.A. in German from Duke University. A United Methodist “preacher’s kid,” she loves being an aunt to her two nieces, nephew, nephew-in-law, and two grandnieces. She enjoys nurturing her friendships, hiking, reading, bird watching, singing, playing the folk guitar, and wishes she could ride horses more often.
